Why conifers

Lasting structure and visual interest

Conifers are valued for their distinctive foliage, varied growth habits and ability to provide structure within a landscape. Many evergreen species offer year-round screening, while others bring colour, texture or seasonal interest.

Conifers are commonly used for:

  • Evergreen hedges and privacy screening
  • Shelterbelts and windbreaks
  • Individual specimen trees
  • Formal gardens and architectural planting
  • Parks, estates and commercial landscapes

Growth rates, mature sizes and maintenance requirements vary considerably between species. Some conifers respond well to regular clipping, while others are best allowed to develop their natural form.

Our team can help you select species suited to the site conditions and intended appearance.

Growth rates vary significantly. Species such as Leyland cypress can grow relatively quickly, while Yew and many ornamental conifers develop more slowly.
