Frequently asked questions about Deepdale Trees
Looking for information about visiting our nursery, availability, deliveries or ordering trees and plants? Below you’ll find answers to some of the questions we receive most often. If your question isn’t covered, please get in touch with our team.
Is Deepdale Trees a trade-only nursery?
Yes. Deepdale Trees is a trade-only nursery supplying professional customers including landscapers, landscape contractors, garden designers, landscape architects and construction companies.
What are your opening hours?
Our nursery is open Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm. Visits are by appointment only, allowing a member of our team to accompany you around the nursery and give you the time and advice you need.
Do I need to make an appointment to visit the nursery?
Yes. Deepdale is a busy working nursery, so all visits must be arranged in advance. A member of our sales team will accompany you during your visit and can help you view, compare and select suitable trees and plants.
Can I bring my client to the nursery?
Absolutely. We regularly welcome professional customers together with their clients. We have meeting facilities available at the nursery and can provide refreshments and, when arranged in advance, lunch. Wellington boots and umbrellas are also available when required.
How do I get to the nursery?
Our nursery is located on Hatley Road in Potton, Bedfordshire, and we have a large car park in front of our offices. If you are travelling by train, the nearest railway station is Sandy. Collection from Sandy station can be arranged with our team in advance.
What if the tree or plant I need isn't currently in stock?
Our own nursery holds an extensive range of trees and plants, but if a particular item isn’t currently available, our team can use our selected UK and European supply network to source it for you. Please contact us with your requirements and we’ll explore the available options.
When are field-grown trees and plants available?
Field-grown stock is generally available between November and April, although the exact period depends on weather and ground conditions.
Are container-grown trees available all year round?
Yes. Our Air-Pot® container-grown stock can be supplied throughout the year, giving greater flexibility for projects that fall outside the traditional rootball season.
How will my trees arrive?
Rootballed and Air-Pot® grown trees are prepared for transport with the rootball wrapped in hessian and wire. These should remain in place during planting and will degrade naturally over time. The crown may also be carefully tied to protect the branches during transport and should be untied before planting.
Do you offer FORS Gold accredited delivery?
Yes. Our main haulier is FORS Gold accredited. If this is a requirement for your project, please discuss it with our team when placing your order.
Can my order be delivered as part of a shared load?
Yes. Depending on the size of your order and its destination, we may be able to combine it with other customer deliveries. Shared loads can be a more cost-effective and environmentally responsible option, although greater flexibility may be required regarding the delivery date and time.
Can I collect my order from Deepdale?
Yes. Customer collections are welcome and must be arranged with our team in advance so that your order can be prepared for loading. Please make sure your vehicle or trailer is suitable for the size and weight of the trees and that they can be properly protected during transport.
Can Deepdale arrange offloading?
Offloading is not included as standard, but we can arrange a HIAB crane or Moffett where required at an additional cost. Deliveries are strictly kerbside and responsibility for suitable access and offloading arrangements remains with the customer. Please discuss your requirements with our team before delivery.
Do I need machinery to unload my trees?
Many of our semi-mature trees are too large and heavy to handle manually. Suitable machinery and sufficient space must therefore be available when the delivery arrives. Our team can advise you on the approximate size and weight of your trees and the equipment likely to be required.
How much time do I have to unload my delivery?
Deliveries have a maximum two-hour unloading window. If unloading takes longer, additional waiting charges may apply until the vehicle is able to leave the site.
Can you reserve or grow trees for a future project?
Yes. Through our Contract Growing service, trees and plants can be selected or sourced in advance for future projects. Stock can also be containerised where appropriate, helping to remove seasonal constraints and ensuring the required plants are available when your project reaches the planting stage.
How does Deepdale manage plant health and biosecurity?
Plant health and biosecurity are extremely important to us. Deepdale and our selected suppliers operate with plant passporting where required and we work closely with DEFRA and other relevant authorities. Our nursery and incoming stock are regularly inspected to help minimise the risk of pests and diseases.
Still have a question?
Our team is always happy to help with questions about availability, tree selection, delivery, future projects or visiting our nursery in Potton.
